Sports play a vital role in the life of the College. We offer a varied extra-curricular programme. Rugby is our main participation sport and every student in the school regardless of ability is given the opportunity to play. We also offer a comprehensive basketball programme for all students. We field cricket teams in the summer term. Our summer programme also includes Athletics and Tennis. The school also fields Junior and Senior golf sides as well as competitive chess teams. GAA and Soccer are offered for Senior Cycle students only. All extracurricular sports and activities are run on a voluntary basis by teachers within the school community and are subject to availability in any given year. We are very grateful to our committed staff.
Pres has a proud tradition in Athletics. Each year we participate in the WIcklow Schools Athletics Championships, where we regularly win the overall award. We compete in the East Leinster, Leinster and All Ireland Championships – where we recently won the All Ireland 1st Year title- as well as the Leinster Indoor Championships and cross country races.
Basketball is played by all years. We currently field four teams in A basketball (the top section of Irish Schools Basketball), a 1st year team, a 2nd Year team, an Under 16 team and a Senior team. In recent years we have competed for and won numerous Leinster titles and All Ireland titles.
The school field competitive chess teams in the Leinster League, winning one Leinster Junior title in recent years. Chess is immensely popular in Pres with large numbers of students playing and practicing at lunchtimes. Internal competitions are always keenly contested.
We have debating teams at both senior and junior level who compete in the Concern debating competition, the Wicklow inter schools and Lions Club debating series. We have had several successes over the years and some close run finals.
We currently field Gaelic football teams from our senior year groups who compete in both Wicklow and Leinster competitions.
Pres enter teams in the Leinster and Irish stroke play and match-play championships at Junior and Senior level. Under the captaincy of Mr Fleming we have won a Leinster championship in recent years. Each year golfers play for the prestigious Hayes Trophy, to be crowned champion school golfer. Huge numbers enter each year in the hope of taking home the cup.

Rugby is the major field sport of the school. We field ten sides, from our three Under 14 sides to our flagship Senior Cup Team. We play in all of the Premier Schools Competitions and have achieved success at many different levels. We remain the only non-fee paying school to have won both the Senior Cup (once) and Junior Cup (five times). Matches take place outside of school time on Wednesday afternoons.
Soccer is offered to all Senior Cycle students. We field two sides, an Under 17 and an Under 19 side. We compete in the Wicklow-Wexford League section of the Leinster League which we have won at both U17 an U19 level in recent years. We also enter the Leinster Junior and Senior Cups. Training takes place at lunch times.
The school field Junior and Senior Tennis teams in the Leinster Leagues. Home matches are played in Co Wicklow LTC. Our Junior team are currently Leinster Champions.
